In 1910 a report released by the Carnegie foundation outlined recommendations for improving medical education in America.
One hundred and eight years later the aftermath of this report lives on. The Flexner report was a pivotal moment in the history of healthcare in the US.
Prior to this report healthcare was fragmented, there were several medical schools teaching different styles of medicine. However, the report suggested a tightening of medical education, which had the unintended (or perhaps intended) consequence of weeding out most non-allopathic therapies.
