When we look back at our ancestral eating patterns and discuss “paleo” nutrition there is a wide variation in what your ancestors might have been eating, but one thing remains constant: intermittent fasting. Throughout human history, up until very recently, humans have not had continuous regular access to food and they had to endure periods of time without access to food.
Fasting is literally built into our DNA. We are adapted to it.
Today, we are going to briefly discuss some of the ways that fasting, or simply going without food for longer than you are used to, can train your body to use fuel more efficiently and also can help to clear out some of the junk that tends to accumulate in our cells over time.
